At Go To Ortho, we are committed to offering the latest advancements in orthopedic care to help you achieve a faster recovery and live pain-free. We are thrilled to introduce Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a cutting-edge regenerative treatment. This non-surgical solution utilizes your body’s own healing power for effective treatment of joint pain, tendon injuries, and osteoarthritis. As the only orthopedic urgent care provider, we make this sophisticated care conveniently accessible right when you need it for superior non-surgical injury treatment.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP therapy harnesses your body's natural healing capabilities. Your blood contains platelets, which are tiny cells rich in growth factors. These growth factors play a crucial role in tissue repair and regeneration. In a PRP procedure, a small sample of your blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge to concentrate these platelets. The resulting solution, highly concentrated with your own healing factors, is then precisely injected into the injured area. This concentrated dose of growth factors stimulates and enhances the body's natural healing process, promoting tissue repair and reducing pain.

How Can PRP Help You?

PRP therapy is a minimally invasive treatment that can be an effective option for a variety of orthopedic conditions, particularly those involving tendons, ligaments, and joints. By accelerating natural healing, PRP can help you avoid more invasive procedures and return to your activities sooner.

What to Expect: Number of Injections

The number of PRP injections needed can vary quite a bit from person to person. Some individuals experience significant improvement after just a single treatment, particularly for less severe or acute injuries. However, for chronic issues or more complex injuries, patients often benefit from a series of multiple injections, typically spaced a few weeks apart. This allows for the cumulative effect of the growth factors to progressively enhance your body's natural repair mechanisms. Our experienced orthopedic providers will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you, outlining the recommended number of injections based on your specific condition and how your body responds.

Initial Consultation

To determine if PRP therapy is the right choice for your specific injury, an initial consultation with one of our orthopedic specialists is required. During this visit, our provider will conduct a focused examination on your area of pain, review your medical history, and discuss what to expect from the PRP injection process, including detailed preparation instructions. It's crucial to note that to ensure the best possible outcome, you will need to discontinue certain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), and Aspirin, for two weeks prior to your injection. This is because NSAIDs can interfere with the essential platelet function vital for PRP's effectiveness.

Does my insurance cover PRP

The majority of insurances do not cover PRP injections. PRP procedure will be offered on a self-pay basis, and payment for your PRP treatment will be due in advance of your scheduled injection. We encourage you to discuss the full cost and any financial questions with our team during your initial consultation.

Is PRP Right for You?

If you are experiencing persistent pain or limited function due to one of the conditions listed above, PRP therapy may be a viable treatment option. Our experienced orthopedic providers at Go To Ortho will thoroughly evaluate your condition, discuss your individual needs, and determine if PRP is the most appropriate course of action for your recovery.
